New York, NY – PeacePlayers is set to host the first Girls Summit on March 29th and March 30th, 2024, in New York City. This landmark event is brought to life through strategic partnerships with leading organizations such as Nike, the New York Liberty, WSLAM, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, the Women’s Sports Foundation, Carol’s Daughter, and others. Through the summit, our partners are committed to uplifting young women through sports, leadership workshops, and community-building activities.

The summit will see participants from across the United States immerse in activities like “WSLAM Media Day,” a Nike workshop on their new “Body Confidence” training, and a competitive “PeacePlayers x New

GS 2A

York Liberty In-House Tourney.” The event also integrates experiential learning through “The Dance Continues: PeacePlayers NCAA Women’s Sweet 16 Reception” and identity building storytelling workshops called “My Vision. My Story.”

PeacePlayers is thankful for the countless organizations that have provided this space and opportunity for our young leaders.

“We are proud to support this summit and PeacePlayers because we believe in the importance of empowering and developing our next generation of women leaders, which is exactly what PeacePlayers is accomplishing.”

Jeanne K. Wardford, Program Officer at W.K. Kellogg Foundation

This momentum is an exciting step for PeacePlayers as the Girls Summit expects to become a staple of our programing in the U.S. “The Girls Summit is a labor of love, born out of our efforts across our five cities to increase access to sport and leadership opportunities for young girls who otherwise might not have it. This event is a celebration of the power of sisterhood through sports and a culmination of opportunities that shape not just athletes but community changemakers. It’s about passing the ball forward, so young women in PeacePlayers feel empowered to envision and own their futures” Sally Nnamani, Co-Executive Director of PeacePlayers.

“The Girls Summit represents everything WSLAM stands for: women's empowerment, uplifting women and girls in sports and growing the game for future generations. SLAM and WSLAM are proud to be a part of it and to partner with PeacePlayers for such a momentous event.”

Deyscha Smith, Associate Editor of SLAM

This summit comes at an opportune time, following the growth of women’s game in the public eye over the last few years. The Girls Summit is a first step of many collaborative efforts of inclusion and amplification for our young and growing organization.

The Girls Summit isn’t just a celebration but a beacon for inclusivity, empowerment, and the role of sports in fostering personal growth and unity within communities. It encapsulates the vision of PeacePlayers to harness the collective power of sports and education in building a more peaceful and collaborative society.
