PeacePlayers United States would like to extend gratitude to outgoing Executive Director Adam Johnson, following a year of devoted learning and hard work to grow and strengthen PeacePlayers United States. Following Adam’s transition, PeacePlayers United States has appointed two Co-Executive Directors from within the ranks of the organization, who will collaboratively lead the organization: Sally Nnamani, previously the U.S. Director of Programs and Partnerships, and David Cassel, previously the Head of U.S. Strategy and Operations.
“Adam is an incredible human being; he’s hard working, motivated and passionate. We are incredibly grateful for everything that he contributed to our movement over the past year, and we wish him the very best,” said PeacePlayers’ global Executive Director Karen Doubilet of the transition.
“We are excited about this new co-executive director structure that truly lives into our core values. David and I will work as a team and bring our shared expertise and lived experience to maximize the potential of PeacePlayers United States to be transformative for the youth we engage and also for our committed team,” added newly appointed Co-Executive Director Sally Nnamani.
PeacePlayers is a global, youth-led movement dedicated to creating more peaceful and equitable societies across the world — through basketball. Founded in 2001, PeacePlayers has worked with more than 75,000 young people in 22 countries, and operates year-round local programs in Northern Ireland, the Middle East, Cyprus, South Africa, and the United States.
In 2017, Nike helped launch, and continues to support, PeacePlayers United States as a flagship partner. PeacePlayers U.S. uses basketball to help youth navigate the systemic social, economic, and educational inequities they face in order to thrive and to be active players in dismantling disparities and racial divides. PeacePlayers – U.S. operates in Brooklyn, Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago and Los Angeles.
